Parent talk and AGM on Tuesday and Obair Bhaile na dtuismitheoirí!

Firstly, can I ask that anyone who wishes to communicate with us do so by email until further notice while we work on upgrading our telephone system within the School.

On Tuesday evening, we will hold the AGM of the Board of Management of the School at 7:30 and this will be followed at 8 by a talk entitled ‘Communicating effectively with children’  which will be given by Joanna fortune and promises to be both enlightening and relevant.

We are heading in to our most busy phase of the year- teachers will shortly begin rehearsals for Christmas concert items, and we will shortly be in touch in respect of parent-teacher meetings for all classes except junior infants. The enrolment window has also opened for the 2017-18 cohort of junior infants. So, it is very important to keep abreast of events and be prepared for them. We are a green school and are seeking to eschew communicating using paper unless absolutely necessary. So the on-line calendar is the best way to make sure that neither you nor your son miss out on any event or appointment.

Finally…. very many of our parents wisely choose shoes with velcro fastening straps for their sons who have not yet mastered lacing up their shoes. Many parents though buy shoes with laces for boys who have not yet learned this skill. Trailing laces are a trip hazard, and are unhygienic. Can I once more ask parents to download one of the many youtube tutorials on tying laces and take a few moments to teach your child this most essential ‘soft’ skill
