What an energetic and exciting time we had during Active School Week here at Belgrove JBS! The boys were up and moving from the very start, with activities packed into every day of the week.
We kicked things off bright and early on Monday morning with a whole-school bootcamp before the boys even stepped into their classrooms. These energising sessions also took place on Wednesday and Friday, with some of our Second Class boys proudly leading the exercises for the entire school—what fantastic role models they were!
Monday was filled with sporty fun, including a basketball training session where the boys practised dribbling and shooting. Later in the day, we were treated to a special basketball demonstration from a coach and an All-Ireland basketball player, which had everyone inspired. Junior Infants also got their first taste of cricket out on the yard—bowling, batting, and lots of giggles!
On Tuesday, while First and Second Classes enjoyed their school tours, things remained active at school with the Infants taking part in gymnastics in the hall. They tumbled, balanced, and stretched their way through the morning with big smiles all around.
Wednesday brought the highlight of the week—Sports Day! The boys rotated through a variety of stations including unihoc, penalties, novelty races, parachute games, frisbee, and a fun-filled obstacle course on the astro. It was a day packed with teamwork, movement, and joy.
On Thursday, it was time for cricket lessons indoors for Senior Infants, First Class, and Second Class, giving them a chance to learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment.
We wrapped up the week in style on Friday with a whole-school disco! The yard turned into a dance floor as the boys celebrated the end of Active School Week by grooving to all their favourite songs.
A huge well done to all the boys for their incredible participation, energy, and enthusiasm throughout the week. Active bodies, happy hearts!
