Active Archie

Archie Active 001

Active Archie is our Active School mascot. He is a bear who loves being physically active, and the boys and their families are invited to bring him with them when they are doing any kind of physical exercise. Archie has a book of his active adventures, so when he goes somewhere he loves to have his photo taken so he can put it in his album. In the past he has been brought on walks, on cycles, to playgrounds, to football matches and training sessions, to a rowing club, to water-polo and basketball, to name but a few of his ‘adventures’.

Active Archie was featured in the ASF newsletter and Karen Cotter (National AS Coordinator) informed us that the idea has caught on in many junior schools around the country. RTE’s Nationwide programme filmed a piece on Active Archie which was aired in January 2017 and is available to view on the RTE Player here. (Available on the RTE Player until: 30 September 2019)

If you would like to take Active Archie somewhere please let us know in advance so we can ‘book him in’. We will leave a book attached to the Active School noticeboard in the foyer for this purpose, so feel free to come in (or e-mail belgrovejbs@eircom.net). You can then sign him out from Mrs. Duffy’s room (3), with an adult at home-time on the day of your adventure and sign him back in at 8:50 the following morning. Hopefully Active Archie will get to do lots of fun activities with the boys and their families.
