First Holy Communion and other news.

Well done to the boys who received their First Holy Cummunion on last Saturday in St. Gabriel’s- they were a credit to their parents, their staff and to their School. Photographs being taken as we speak and then off to Clontarf RFC for lunch. THis year we have nominated the Children’s Hospice and Barrretstown Gang Camp as our charities to which we ask the boys to give a portion of the funding tranche which has been handed over!

Could I ask all parents to label scooters clearly as we seem to have a number of similar marques and there has already been some confusion!

We have initiated a small drop-in area in the yard for boys for whom the bustle and chaotic fun of the yard can be overwhelming. It will serve as a quiet haven where more sedentary activities can be enjoyed as well as an  exchange where a friendship can be struck up. We are using the patented Martin-Downey table which is purpose-designed for such activities as it is very heavy and big enough to accommodate several pupils.

As a Munster man, I have to take the hat off to the Leinster team for their comprehensive victory on Saturday last. How lovely it was to see the two alumni of the Junior Boys’ School on the front of the Sunday Times. Mr. Conway is refusing, so far,to comment on reports that they learned many of their skills in the junior yard!
