First Holy Communion ceremonies

Congratulations

I wish to congratulate the boys who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday last in St. John’s and St. Gabriel’s Churches. The boys were a credit to their parents, their parish, the teachers and staff who work with them and to you their parents. So many parents have complimented the work of the staff in preparing the boys and there is no doubt the preparation showed in how well the ceremonies were conducted.

Donations

Today I spoke to each of the Communion classes about our tradition here of gifting a portion of their ‘boodle’ to out two nominated charities- Barretstown and the Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice. I know they will discuss this with you and be very generous. We split all monies raised from this initiative and make a presentation on the day of the Graduation Mass.

Post-Communion refreshments

Parents of boys in first class (and even some parents who are no longer with us) organised refreshments and baked confections and cakes for after the First Communion ceremonies. The hall was beautifully decorated and set up for the occasion too. It is by far our biggest turn out of help from the parents of boys from our first classes. I want to thank them sincerely for it.

A great ‘meitheal’ indeed and ably co-ordinated and recruited by Cliodhna Hurley.

For the record the parents were

Anna Dunwoody, XueFang Yu, Fiona Wright, Jennifer Ussher, Lisa Persse, Cara Joyce, Sinéad Morgan,Ann Greene

Melanie Hobbs, Regina Riordan, Norma Donlon, Joanne Giles, Deborah Bredican, Emer Hoy, Sarah McCabe,
