Teachers in our three senior infant classes are currently piloting a new Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE) programme called First Steps. Ms. Bolger, Mrs. Breen and Mrs. Duffy will be using a variety of activities and games to focus on one of the following values each week. In what is a novel approach, each week each boy will be given a colour-coded paper wristband to wear which will have embossed on it the value of the week.
These bands will serve as a concrete reminder to each boy of what he has learned in class. We expect too that the bands will prompt discussion on the topics and values at home.
The values to be worked on each week and band colours are
