Building on previous talks organised by the Belgrove Parents’ Association, Dr. John Sharry has kindly agreed to address parents and guardians on a topic of interest to them.
About the Talk
Many parents and guardians are concerned about their children’s lack of self esteem and worry that this will lead to poor confidence as they grow up. In this talk John Sharry presents a new model of self-esteem that focuses on core parenting values and what facilitates children and teenagers to grow up confidently and to lead content happy lives. Practical tips will be provided on how to motivate children to learn in a positive way that builds on their strengths and which increases their sense of value and self-esteem.
About the Speaker
Dr John Sharry is a social worker and solution focused therapist, an author of ten books on parenting and positive psychology, co-developer of the award winning Parents Plus Programmes and an international workshop leader and trainer. He is also a weekly contributor to the Irish Times Health Supplement (published every Tuesday). His books have been translated into eight languages including Japanese, Chinese and Arabic.
