Boccia

“Boccia” has been introduced as a new yard game in the school. Boccia is a precision ball game which is very similar to “boules” or “pétanque” and was adopted by the Paralympics as an official sport. It offers an alternative to traditional running games in the yard and is as the photos show, very intense! It is played by four teams of two people and is currently being rotated between classes so that every class gets an opportunity to play it in yard. We were very lucky to have our own Boccia “coach”, Joan Leahy, who visited the school on multiple days to make sure each class was given a comprehensive introduction. Boccia is proving to be a fantastic addition to the yard and a very exciting and skilful game for the boys.
