Fighting-Words-Workshop-Dublin-Science-Festival-of-Curiosity-July-Free-Family-Events-Whats-On-Events-Dublin-Summer-Festival-Creative-WritingOn Wednesday 15th April, Ms E Mc Caughey’s first class boys Room 7 accompanied by SNA Tracey Traynor paid a visit to Fighting Words Workshop in Behan Square.

Fighting Words is a creative writing centre established by Roddy Doyle and Sean Love.

Here the boys got to actively participate in the creation of their own book with the initial brainstorming of characters and ideas to the scripting of the text as well as the illustrations. Each boy then received a printout of this book and left with his very first publication.

Here’s what some of the boys thought of the trip…

‘My favourite part was when we got our book published’-James F

‘My favourite part was the whole trip!’-Oisín

‘I liked the moving bookshelf’-Brandon

Fighting words run three and four day summer camps throughout July and August free of charge. They cover creative writing in all its forms from comic books to short fiction. Camps are aimed at children 7-9 years old. Check out their website for more details www.fightingwords.ie
